Editorial Policy

This page explains how we work: how a review gets made, how a score gets decided, and where the line is between our editorial content and anything commercial.

Independence

No developer, publisher or advertiser can buy a review or influence a score. Advertising and affiliate relationships are kept entirely separate from the editorial team's verdicts. If a game is covered on GameAvant, it's because it's relevant to our readers — not because anyone paid for it to be there.

How a review gets made

Every review is built around one core question: who is this game actually for, and who should skip it? We look at what the game does well, where it falls short, and how it compares to genuinely similar titles rather than to hype. Scores reflect our own judgment; we never cite or average other outlets' scores.

Facts and data

Factual details — release dates, platforms, system requirements, playtime estimates, pricing — are sourced from IGDB and Steam and checked against those sources before publishing. If a factual detail is uncertain, we leave it out rather than guess.

How we write

Our writing process uses data-driven and AI-assisted tools to help us cover more games, more consistently, in multiple languages. Every piece is checked against our verified game data before it's published, and the judgment behind every score and recommendation is ours.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they're confirmed; if a correction changes the substance of a review, we note that plainly. To report an error, see our Contact page.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links to game storefronts (such as Steam) may be affiliate links, meaning GameAvant can earn a small commission if you make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. This never affects which games we cover or what score they receive.
