The story so far

What we know about Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series from Square Enix, following Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Square Enix describes the game as the chapter where Cloud and his companions confront their convictions on the way to the final battle that decides the fate of the planet.

The official announcement highlights a fully explorable planet reached by the Highwind airship, with parachute landings, and an expanded hybrid battle system combining real-time action with a Tactical Mode. Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind are listed as new playable characters, and the FITS system gives characters outfit-based movesets inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs. Reimagined locations include the Mideel archipelago, Wutai and the Northern Continent. Players with save data from earlier entries unlock bonus summon Materia.

Square Enix gave only a Spring 2027 window at first. The exact date, 8 April 2027, was confirmed during PlayStation's September 2026 State of Play, which also showed extended gameplay. The game launches at the same time on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, with pre-orders open. Two story DLCs, one centred on Sephiroth and one on Vincent and the Turks, are planned within about a year of launch.
