The story so far
What we know about Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is a real-time strategy game for PC, developed and published by PlaySide Studios under licence from the HBO series Game of Thrones and George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels. It was announced on 10 June 2025. Players command one of the Great Houses, Stark, Lannister or Targaryen, or the Night King's Army of the Dead, and either conquer the Seven Kingdoms in the single-player campaign or fight in free-for-all multiplayer skirmish.
The Steam page describes a classic RTS in the world of Westeros, where players rally iconic heroes and rewrite the fate of the realm. Each faction has hero units with their own abilities, and the action takes place in recognisable locations such as the Wall and King's Landing. The Steam listing also tags single-player, multiplayer, PvP and co-op.
The game was first aimed at a 2026 release, but in a July 2026 development update PlaySide moved it to early 2027, saying it wants more time to reach the quality it is aiming for. A gameplay reveal trailer followed in August 2026, around Gamescom. The Steam page currently lists only the year 2027, and no console versions have been announced.
