Petal Runner is a slice-of-life RPG developed by Nano Park Studios and published by iam8bit Presents. It is set in Sapphire Valley, a solarpunk coastal city, where players join Cali and their fox-like HanaPet Kira as they train to become Petal Runners, motorcycle couriers who deliver digital pets. The visuals take their cue from the Game Boy Color era, built from a four-colour pixel palette.
Instead of combat, the Steam page stresses exploration, bike traversal, minigames and side quests, with four districts to explore and a cast of people, androids and digital pets. A corporate mystery sits beneath the cosy surface. Pixel art is by Brandon James Greer, with story contributions from Adam Dolin, whose credits include God of War and Horizon: Forbidden West, and the soundtrack is original chiptune.
