The story so far
What we know about The Expanse: Osiris Reborn
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a story-driven sci-fi action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse, developed and published by Owlcat Games. You play a mercenary whose brief shore leave on the asteroid Eros spirals out of control. After escaping a massacre on the station, you end up commanding a stolen experimental ship and leading a crew of specialists while a relentless enemy hunts you amid political intrigue across the solar system.
Combat is third-person and cover-based, with real-time tactical commands for companions, gadgets such as grenades, scanners and drones, and an Exploits system in which companions take out enemy groups. The captain can be created as an Earther, Martian or Belter, and decisions affect relationships within the crew. Announced locations include Ganymede, Ceres, Mars and Luna. Named companions so far are Zafar, Regina, Teo and Michael, plus J, the player's identical twin.
No exact release date has been announced. The developer targets spring 2027, and the Steam page lists Q2 2027. The game was shown in a new trailer during the Xbox Partner Preview on 26 March 2026, and a closed beta for Founders began on 22 April 2026. It is planned for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and will be included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on day one. Standard, Deluxe, Miller's Pack and physical Collector's editions have been listed.
