What we know about Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn 2 is a choice-driven horror game for PS5, developed by Firesprite and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was revealed during a State of Play broadcast on 3 September 2026 and is set for release on 28 January 2027. It follows Dead True, a crew of ghost-hunting YouTubers who built a following on staged paranormal footage. A television network deal sends them to Akishima Island, a remote spot in the South Pacific that has been abandoned since a resort closed there under mysterious circumstances.
Like the 2015 original, the game is built around decisions. Sony says every choice matters, that the story can branch in different directions and that any character can survive or die. Eight characters are playable: Owen, Mina, Nate, Reagan, Izzy, Luke, Josie and Cameron. The cast includes Dacre Montgomery and Sarah Catherine Hook, and Peter Stormare returns as Dr. Hill. Relationships inside the group are reported to influence how some scenes unfold, which fits the butterfly-effect idea the series is known for.
Firesprite worked on the story together with AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch. The game has been shown in an announcement trailer and a later pre-order trailer. Pre-orders opened on 10 September 2026 for a Standard and a Digital Deluxe Edition, with bonus outfits for everyone who orders early. Only PS5 has been announced so far, and no price, demo or playtime figure has been published in the sources we checked.
