What we know about God of War Laufey
God of War Laufey is a PS5 action-adventure from Santa Monica Studio, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was revealed at the State of Play on 2 June 2026 with an extended gameplay presentation. Instead of Kratos, the playable lead is Faye, also known as Laufey, his late wife, played by Deborah Ann Woll. The story begins after her funeral, when she awakens in the Everywhen, described as the afterlife of the gods, and sets out to protect the plans she left behind for Kratos and Atreus.
Gods from several mythologies are present in the Everywhen, and the reveal showed large-scale battles, mythological creatures and new environments. Faye's main new weapon is the Serpent Bow, which has a precision mode for charged volleys and a hip-fire mode for close-range clusters, and the combat also leans on customisable armour, blade, bow Scales and Catalyst artifacts. The cast includes Jack Quaid as Phranque, a sentient cube companion, and Perlina Lau as Rue, guardian of Faye's sword.
The release date of 16 February 2027 was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026, where Santa Monica Studio also said a Kratos-centred God of War game is in development. Pre-orders opened on 29 September 2026 in a Standard Edition at $69.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99, and a disc release has been confirmed alongside the digital one.
