What we know about Grand Theft Auto VI
Grand Theft Auto VI is the next open-world crime game from Rockstar Games and the first main entry in the series since Grand Theft Auto V in 2013. It is set in the fictional US state of Leonida and its returning Vice City, a Florida-inspired region the series last visited decades ago.
The story follows two lead characters, Jason and Lucia, who are pulled into a criminal conspiracy after what was meant to be an easy score goes wrong. Rockstar describes a game where both characters matter to the plot, and the marketing so far has leaned on the pair's shared, high-risk life across the state.
Rockstar confirmed development in February 2022 and showed the first trailer in December 2023, followed by a second in May 2025. The release was moved twice and is now set for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A longer Extended Look premiered on 27 August 2026. Rockstar lists a Standard Edition, an Ultimate Edition and a collector's box called the Vice City Collection, plus a soundtrack album with 34 original tracks on launch day. No PC version has been announced.
