Grand Theft Auto VI is about six weeks from release. Between trailers, leaks and store-listing rumours it is hard to know which details are solid, so this is a short check against the one source that counts: Rockstar's own page for the game, read on 7 October 2026. Everything in the "official" section below comes from there.
What Rockstar has confirmed#
- Release date: 19 November 2026.
- Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Pre-orders: the page lists the game as available for pre-order.
- Editions: a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition, described as an exclusive collection of items threaded through Jason and Lucia's story.
- Pre-order extras: a Vintage Vice City Pack, and a physical Vice City Collection, a limited collector's set.
- Rating: ESRB Mature, with content descriptors listed for blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol, plus in-game purchases.
- Soundtrack: an album, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, with 34 original tracks, also due on 19 November.
- Trailers: three are up, including the latest, "An Extended Look".
The two leads are Jason and Lucia, in a return to the Vice City setting. If you want the full timeline from the first trailer to the current date, our GTA VI page keeps it in one place with the sources.
What the page does not say#
Two questions players ask most are still open on Rockstar's page.
Price. No price is stated. You may have seen figures in screenshots of store databases and forum posts. Treat them as unconfirmed: nothing on the official page supports a number, and store back-ends often hold placeholders before a real price is set.
PC. The page does not mention a PC version. A launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only is what Rockstar has said, and anything beyond that, including a later PC release, is speculation at this point.
Multiplayer is not described on the page either, so details you may have read elsewhere are not confirmed by Rockstar.
What the rating tells you, and what it does not#
An ESRB Mature rating is for ages 17 and up, and the descriptor list is long, including nudity and strong sexual content. That is a description of what the rating board saw, not a feature list from the developer. It is useful for parents and for anyone deciding whether to play in a shared space, but it does not reveal story or mission content.
What to do before launch#
If you are deciding whether to pre-order, the useful questions are the ones the page cannot answer yet: the final price, whether your platform's edition includes what you want, and whether you are happy to wait for any PC release. The pre-order extras listed above are the only thing the page ties to ordering early.
If you want to catch up first, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the series' last visit to the city, and Grand Theft Auto V is the entry most people play to see how far Rockstar's open worlds have come. Our GTA V beginner guide covers the basics, and games like Grand Theft Auto V and games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are good for the weeks in between. Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar's other modern open-world benchmark. Our release calendar shows what else is landing around the same date.
What we will watch#
The next things to check are the price, the pre-order terms and any further trailer or gameplay material in the final weeks. Rockstar's official details are tracked on the GTA VI game page.
